A red, raised scar can change in color and thickness as it heals. How much the scar tissue settles depends on your skin type and the previous surgical method, so we follow the course over time and judge whether and when correction is appropriate.

Multiple overlapping lines are addressed by clearing the scar tissue and adhesion while reshaping the crease so it runs naturally. We first separate whether the overlap comes from the scar itself or from how the line was designed, and then set the scope of the procedure.

The procedure is performed under local or sedation anesthesia and takes about an hour. The time can vary depending on the extent of the scar and any additional areas being addressed, so we confirm this during the consultation.

We generally guide patients to return to daily activities around seven days after surgery, and stitches are removed at about a week, from five days at the earliest to two weeks at the latest. Swelling subsides at different rates for each person, so we advise you based on how you are progressing at follow-up.
